Terms of Use
In short: CoinWiz is for people 18 and over only. It gives automated estimates. A grade in CoinWiz isn't a certified grade, a value isn't an appraisal or an offer, and nothing in the app is financial advice. CoinWiz Pro renews automatically until you cancel it in your iPhone's Settings.
1. The agreement
These terms, together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), govern your use of the CoinWiz app, CoinWiz Pro and the online services the app uses (together, “CoinWiz”). CoinWiz is provided by Anas Alradhwan, Kuwait (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using CoinWiz, you agree to these terms. If these terms and the Standard EULA conflict, these terms apply, except that section 13 always applies. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
2. Who can use CoinWiz
CoinWiz is for people 18 and over only. By using CoinWiz, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and old enough to accept these terms where you live. If you are under 18, don't use CoinWiz. Ask Wiz, the app's AI chat, also asks you to confirm that you're 18 or older before your first question.
3. Estimates, not appraisals
CoinWiz uses artificial intelligence and catalogue data to suggest what a coin is, estimate its grade and show a range of values. Please keep in mind:
- Results are automated estimates and can be wrong. Check the details that matter, such as the year and mint mark, against the coin itself.
- A CoinWiz grade isn't a certified grade. It's an estimate from photos, and light and camera angle can hide wear, cleaning or damage.
- A value isn't an appraisal or an offer. It isn't a promise of what anyone will pay. Real prices depend on the coin's actual condition and authenticity, on demand, and on where and how you sell, and dealers often pay less than the values shown.
- CoinWiz can't authenticate coins. It can't reliably detect counterfeit, altered or cleaned coins.
- Not financial advice. Nothing in CoinWiz is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. Don't buy, sell or insure a coin based only on CoinWiz.
For a certified grade or authentication, use a professional grading service. For an appraisal, ask a qualified dealer or appraiser.
Where values come from. Catalogue values come partly from Numista and are credited in the app. When there's no catalogue price, the app shows a rough estimate and labels it as one. Melt values are rough calculations from metal prices and the coin's catalogue weight and metal content. Values show their source and date, and they may be out of date.
Ask Wiz is an AI chat (Anthropic's Claude) that answers questions about coins. Its answers are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, so check anything important yourself. Ask Wiz talks only about coins. We block questions and answers that contain offensive words, and you can report any answer with the Report button under it; we review reports and use them to improve Ask Wiz.
Keeper alerts, lessons and “Legit or myth?” verdicts are for education and entertainment. A keeper alert means a coin is worth a closer look, not that it's valuable.
4. CoinWiz Pro subscriptions
- Plans. CoinWiz Pro Yearly starts with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, then costs US$39.99 a year in the United States. CoinWiz Pro Weekly has no free trial and costs US$6.99 a week in the United States. In other countries, prices are set in local currency and may differ. The price and billing period are always shown in the app before you buy.
- What you get. CoinWiz Pro unlocks coin scans with value and grade estimates, Check your change, Ask Wiz, the full Coin Hunter Academy and the other features marked Pro in the app, within the fair-use limits in section 5.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial. Apple decides who is eligible for a trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the yearly subscription starts and you're charged. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Price changes. If a price goes up, Apple tells you in advance and, where its rules require, asks for your consent before charging the new price.
- Manage or cancel. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose CoinWiz. Deleting the app doesn't cancel a subscription. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds ourselves.
- Restore. If you reinstall CoinWiz or switch iPhones, tap Restore Purchases in the app, using the same Apple ID.
- Other purchases. If CoinWiz offers other in-app purchases, what you get and the price are shown before you buy.
5. Free scans and fair use
The free version includes one free coin scan, the first unit of the Coin Hunter Academy and the features that aren't marked Pro. CoinWiz Pro includes fair-use limits, which keep the service fast and prevent abuse:
- up to 20 coin scans an hour and 80 a day;
- up to 30 Ask Wiz questions a day;
- up to 60 catalogue searches a day (for everyone, with or without Pro).
Daily limits reset at midnight UTC. Some features, such as updating your collection's values, need CoinWiz Pro and an internet connection.
6. Your photos and content
- You keep all rights to your photos, notes and collection. We don't take a licence to use your photos for anything other than running CoinWiz for you.
- When you scan, you allow us and the providers that work for us (listed in our Privacy Policy) to process the photo only to identify the coin and provide the features you use. We don't keep scan photos.
- Only scan photos you have the right to use, and don't include people, documents or anything private.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve CoinWiz, with no obligation to you.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use CoinWiz in a way that breaks the law or anyone's rights;
- upload unlawful, harmful or infringing content, or send Ask Wiz abusive, hateful, sexual or threatening messages (we have zero tolerance for abuse and may end access for it);
- copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- use bots, scripts, scraping or other automated or bulk access, or try to get around scan limits, the paywall or security checks;
- resell CoinWiz or its results, or use them to build or train a competing product or dataset;
- present a CoinWiz result as a certified grade, an appraisal or proof of authenticity, for example when selling a coin.
8. Our intellectual property
CoinWiz, including its software, design, mascots, lessons, sets and text, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. “CoinWiz”, its logo and its mascots are our trademarks. Subject to these terms and the Standard EULA, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control. Catalogue data and some images belong to their owners, such as Numista and its contributors, and are used under licence and credited in the app.
9. Other services and links
CoinWiz relies on services from other companies, such as Apple, Anthropic, Cloudflare, Numista and RevenueCat, and it may link to other websites, for example to have a coin graded or sold. We don't control those services or websites and aren't responsible for their content or availability.
10. Changes and availability
We keep improving CoinWiz, so features may change, and some may be added or removed. CoinWiz needs an internet connection to identify coins, and it may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version, and for important changes we'll also tell you in the app. If you keep using CoinWiz after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you don't agree with them, stop using CoinWiz and cancel your subscription.
11. Disclaimers
CoinWiz is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise that results will be accurate, complete or current, or that CoinWiz will be uninterrupted or error-free.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost value, or losses from buying, selling, trading, insuring or handling coins because of CoinWiz; and
- our total liability for all claims relating to CoinWiz is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for CoinWiz in the 12 months before the claim and US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
13. Apple terms
These points apply because CoinWiz is distributed through Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for CoinWiz and its content.
- Your licence to use CoinWiz is limited to Apple-branded products that you own or control, and to the uses allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for CoinWiz.
- If CoinWiz fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you, if there was one. To the fullest extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for CoinWiz. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent they can't be disclaimed.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to CoinWiz or your use of it, including product liability claims, claims that CoinWiz fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that CoinWiz or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you aren't located in a country that is subject to a US Government embargo or that the US Government has designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you aren't on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use CoinWiz, such as your mobile data provider's terms.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.
- Please send any questions, complaints or claims about CoinWiz to us, using the contact details in section 17.
14. Ending
You can stop using CoinWiz at any time and delete your data in Profile → Delete my data. Cancel any subscription in your iPhone's Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or abuse the service. Sections 3, 6, 8, 11, 12, 13 and 15 continue to apply after these terms end.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts where the law allows. If you have a problem with CoinWiz, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.
16. General
These terms, the Standard EULA and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about CoinWiz. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right, we haven't given it up. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to a company that takes over CoinWiz; you may not transfer yours.
